Hi, I’m Jessica Garnet Stier.

Jessie is a costume designer and maker whose work explores the intersection of historical research, silhouette, and visual storytelling. She is completing a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts Studies with an emphasis in Costume Design at Brigham Young University, where she has designed productions including The Cherry Orchard and Monteverdi’s opera L’Incoronazione di Poppea.

Jessie’s design process begins with research. She is especially drawn to historical clothing and the way garments communicate class, power, and identity before a character ever speaks. She approaches costume design as visual storytelling, using silhouette, color, and texture to support the emotional and social world of a production.

Before returning to complete her degree, Jessie worked in the Hale Centre Theatre costume shop in roles including stitcher, first hand, patterner, and design assistant. Those years shaped her collaborative approach to theatre-making and gave her a deep respect for the craft and labor behind costume production.

Jessie has loved sewing since childhood and continues to approach costume design with curiosity, craftsmanship, and the belief that clothing is one of the most powerful storytelling tools on stage.

Jessica Garnet Stier is based in Utah, but loves to travel!
